Our projects
Small-Scale Mining Projects
New Zealand is rich in gold-bearing deposits, many of which were overlooked during past gold rushes due to limited technology or low grades. With modern methods and higher gold prices, these deposits are now viable. Too large for individual prospectors but too small for big mining companies, Otago Gold targets these niche opportunities with cost-effective, small-scale operations.
By using contracted machinery and efficient techniques, Otago Gold minimises upfront costs and maximises returns. The project focuses on accessible sites that don’t require major infrastructure or chemical treatments. Instead it relies on environmentally friendly, water-based gold extraction.
The Nevis Project
Located between Queenstown and Cromwell, the Nevis Project taps into rich alluvial gold deposits and old riverbeds missed in earlier gold rushes.
- Estimated Reserve: $5M NZD (at $2,500 USD/oz).
- Costs: $2M NZD for extraction.
- Timeline: 12–18 months, starting late 2025.
Mining operations will use excavators and trommel wash plants to process shallow deposits (5–8m depth). The project will follow strict environmental standards, remediating land as operations progress.
The Pomahaka Project
This project covers both the active Pomahaka riverbed (for suction dredging) and an old river channel suitable for excavator and trommel mining.
- Estimated Reserve: 5,000 oz of fine gold.
- Costs: $1.5M NZD.
- Timeline: Expected to begin 1.5 years after Nevis concludes.
The Pomahaka project offers an ongoing income stream alongside larger-scale operations.
