Small-Scale Mining Projects
New Zealand is rich in gold-bearing deposits, many of which were overlooked during past gold rushes due to limited technology or low grades. With modern methods and higher gold prices, these deposits are now viable. Too large for individual prospectors but too small for big mining companies, Otago Gold targets these niche opportunities with cost-effective, small-scale operations.
By using a combination of our own equipment, contracted mining machinery, and efficient recovery techniques, Otago Gold minimises upfront costs and maximises returns. The project focuses on accessible sites that don’t require major infrastructure or chemical treatments. Instead it relies on environmentally friendly, water-based gold extraction with full remediation of the mined areas back to their original state.
The Lower Nevis Project
Located between Queenstown and Cromwell, the Lower Nevis Project taps into rich alluvial gold deposits and old riverbeds missed in earlier gold rushes. Mining operations will use excavators and trommel wash plants to process shallow deposits (5–8m depth). The project will follow strict environmental standards, remediating land as operations progress.
Estimated Reserve: 4,000 Oz ($10M USD based on $2500 USD/oz)
Costs: $3M USD for extraction.
Timeline: 2-5 years, starting mid-2026.
The Upper Nevis Project
Located between Queenstown and Cromwell, the Upper Nevis Project taps into rich alluvial gold deposits and old riverbeds missed in earlier gold rushes. Mining operations will use excavators and trommel wash plants to process shallow deposits (5–8m depth). The project will follow strict environmental standards, remediating land as operations progress.
Estimated Reserve: 10,000 Oz ($25M USD based on $2500 USD/oz)
Costs: $8M USD for extraction.
Timeline: 5-10 years, starting late-2026.
The Pomahaka Project
This project covers both the active Pomahaka riverbed (for suction dredging) and an old river channel suitable for excavator and trommel mining. The Pomahaka project offers an ongoing income stream.
Estimated Reserve: 8,000+ Oz ($20M USD based on $2500 USD/oz)
Costs: $6M USD for extraction.
Timeline: 10-12 years, starting late-2026 (subject to bulk sampling work)
